There it is...Soft drinks linked to pancreatic cancer

Drinking two or more soft drinks a week may nearly double a person's risk of developing pancreatic cancer, researchers are warning.

Radical acceptance

(this was drawn from a group therapy session between a social worker and 12 high risk, emotionally tramatized young males)

I was thinking today...

...that the distinct advantage that Scripture (and by this I think I mean ANY sacred texts--but for me it is also specific to the tradition I know best, Judeo-Christian) offers us, is that it houses potential to challenge our cultural paradigms--which are often assumed and untouched.  The Judeo-Christian text in particular holds numerous such subversions, it can routinely be seen to argue against the stories of militarism, consumerism, and self-improvement (traditional Western meta-narratives)...   Where do we get challenged, confronted, or called on the carpets? This isn't about authority, but rather about revolt.  Not whose giving the command from the top down, but rather do we have anyone wooing and willing us from the bottom up?  I don't think this happens often, but it is a mechanism for that possibility. It is, in my mind, the best argument for the regular injection of some form of Scriptural submission...I'm just sayin...
